Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata, where he recently underwent a minor surgery. According to those close to the development, the procedure was successful and the actor is recovering well. Doctors are expected to discharge him in the coming days.
The news became public after West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari visited the actor at the hospital on Friday. Following the visit, Adhikari shared photographs from the hospital and provided an update on Mithun Chakraborty's health through a social media post.

After meeting the veteran actor and speaking with the doctors treating him, Adhikari said Mithun Chakraborty was in stable condition and recovering satisfactorily.
In his social media post, Adhikari said he had inquired about the actor's health and prayed for his speedy recovery. Images shared by him showed Mithun resting comfortably in his hospital room.
The photographs quickly spread across social media, drawing messages of concern and well wishes from fans and colleagues.
Actor Chose to Keep Hospitalisation Private
Speaking to reporters later, Adhikari revealed that the surgery had been performed on Thursday night. He added that Mithun Chakraborty had intentionally chosen not to publicise his hospital stay.
According to Adhikari, the operation was a minor one and the actor is expected to be discharged shortly. He also praised Mithun's contribution to public life, saying his influence extends beyond politics.
A Career Spanning Nearly Five Decades
Mithun Chakraborty remains one of Indian cinema's most celebrated actors. He made his debut with Mrigayaa in 1976, winning the National Film Award for Best Actor for his very first film.
He rose to nationwide and international fame with Disco Dancer (1982), which became one of the defining films of his career. Over the years, he has delivered acclaimed performances in films such as Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Ghulami, Agneepath, Guru and The Kashmir Files.
Apart from films, Mithun became a familiar face on Indian television through reality shows, most notably as the Grand Master of Dance India Dance.
Political Role
Alongside his acting career, Mithun Chakraborty has remained active in politics. He previously served as a Rajya Sabha MP representing the Trinamool Congress before resigning in 2016. He later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and has since campaigned extensively for the party during elections in West Bengal and across the country.
For now, the veteran actor continues to recover under medical supervision, with hospital authorities expecting him to return home soon.
