Police have detained over 390 people following large-scale disturbances linked to labour demonstrations in Noida, where protests over salary demands spiralled into incidents of arson and property damage.
The agitation began with factory employees calling for higher wages but soon widened, drawing participation from domestic workers who also took to the streets seeking better pay amid mounting living costs. As demonstrations intensified across parts of the National Capital Region, reports of blocked roads and clashes prompted swift administrative action.
In an effort to defuse tensions, the state government approved a temporary wage increase of ₹3,000 and announced the formation of a dedicated panel to examine workers’ grievances and recommend long-term solutions.
Security forces remain on heightened alert, conducting flag marches in sensitive areas to reassure residents and prevent further flare-ups. Several FIRs have been filed, and investigators are examining whether the unrest was fuelled by a broader, coordinated plan.
Authorities are scrutinising around 50 social media accounts flagged for suspicious activity. Officials claim that certain audio recordings and online conversations recovered during the probe suggest the possibility of outside elements encouraging violence and disruption.
While the situation is gradually stabilising, law enforcement agencies continue to monitor developments closely as investigations into the alleged conspiracy move forward.
