Mumbai Police have detained a suspect in connection with the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, which occurred during an attempted burglary at his Bandra residence early Thursday morning.

According to officials, several individuals with prior complaints of housebreaking were brought in for questioning at the Bandra Police Station on Thursday night. By Friday, one of the suspects, who has a history of housebreaking offenses, was detained for further interrogation regarding the assault on the actor.

Details of the Incident

Saif Ali Khan was attacked at around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, when an intruder entered his home through the fire escape stairs with the apparent intention of burglary. The incident took place in the children’s room, where the intruder was spotted by a domestic help who raised the alarm.

Responding to the commotion, Saif confronted the intruder and engaged in a struggle during which he was stabbed six times. The domestic help also sustained minor injuries in the altercation. Following the attack, the actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Doctors have confirmed that Saif is now out of danger and remains hospitalized for recovery.

Investigation Underway

The Mumbai Police have filed a case under sections of attempted murder and trespassing based on the complaint lodged by Saif’s domestic help. Over 20 teams, including those from the Crime Branch and local police, have been formed to track down the intruder.

Investigators are analyzing technical data, such as mobile activity in the area, to trace the attacker. Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect gained access to Saif’s flat through the building’s fire escape.

The incident has raised concerns about security in the area, and police are intensifying efforts to ensure the intruder is brought to justice.
