Renowned music director Vipin Reshammiya, father of singer and composer Himesh Reshammiya, passed away at the age of 87 on the evening of September 18. He had been receiving treatment at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted due to breathing difficulties and other age-related health concerns.
Family friend Vanita Thapar confirmed the news to ETimes, saying, "Yes, he had breathing issues. He was at Kokilaben Hospital and passed away at 8:30 pm today. I have been close to the family for years and always considered him a father figure. We shared a deep bond, especially from the time he was producing TV serials before becoming a music director. Himesh followed in his father’s footsteps, and we’ve all remained close ever since."
Vipin Reshammiya’s body is expected to be brought home soon, with the funeral planned for September 19 in Juhu.
Vipin Reshammiya had composed music for a Salman Khan film, marking the beginning of Himesh Reshammiya’s rise in Bollywood when Salman noticed his talent. Himesh went on to compose music for Salman’s Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, a key moment in his career.
Vipin Reshammiya also worked as a producer on films like The Xposé (2014) and Teraa Surroor (2016), both of which starred Himesh. He had composed music for an unreleased film titled Insaaf Ka Suraj (1990).
