Aliya Fakhri, sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been charged with murder and arson following a fire in Queens, New York, that claimed the lives of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, 35, and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne, 33. Prosecutors allege the fire was intentionally set after Jacobs rejected Fakhri's attempts to reconcile their relationship.

The incident occurred on November 23, when Fakhri, 43, allegedly set fire to a detached garage on Jacobs’ property around 6:20 a.m. Witnesses reported hearing her shout, "You’re all going to die today," before igniting the blaze, according to the indictment. Both victims succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, with Ettienne reportedly trying to rescue Jacobs, who was asleep.

Fakhri faces multiple charges, including four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and arson. She pleaded not guilty during her initial court appearance and is being held at Rikers Island jail. Her next hearing is set for December 9. If convicted, she could face a life sentence.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz condemned the act, stating, "This defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by setting a fire that trapped a man and woman in a raging inferno."

Jacobs' mother, Janet, revealed that her son had ended his relationship with Fakhri over a year ago and had been trying to avoid her persistent advances. "He told her to leave him alone, but she wasn’t accepting the rejection," Janet told the media.

Fakhri’s mother, however, expressed doubt about her daughter’s alleged involvement, describing her as a caring person. "I don’t think she would kill someone," she told local media.

The case has drawn significant public attention due to its tragic nature and Aliya Fakhri's connection to the celebrity world. Investigations are ongoing as Fakhri prepares for her upcoming court date.
