The newly appointed Chief Minister of Delhi will not reside in the bungalow previously occupied by Arvind Kejriwal, BJP leaders have confirmed. The residence, located at 6, Flagstaff Road, was a focal point of BJP's election campaign, with allegations of misuse of public funds for extravagant renovations.

On Monday, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva urged Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to revoke the merger of four properties with the official Chief Minister’s bungalow. "The next Chief Minister of Delhi will not stay in it," Sachdeva stated, adding that the BJP-led government will decide the future use of the property.

Call for Restoration and Inquiry

Vijender Gupta, newly elected BJP MLA from Rohini and former Leader of Opposition, has also written to the Lieutenant Governor, demanding the immediate restoration of the CM's residence to its original state. He further called for the removal of alleged encroachments on adjacent government-owned properties.

Gupta accused Kejriwal of expanding the property from 10,000 square meters to over 50,000 square meters, allegedly by annexing surrounding government properties. These reportedly include eight Type-V flats at 45 and 47 Rajpur Road and government bungalows at 8A and 8B Flagstaff Road.

In his letter, Gupta claimed that Kejriwal’s modifications were both illegal and unethical, asserting that the former CM used public money to create a "sheesh mahal" (glass palace). He called for the de-linking of the merged properties and restoration of the bungalow to its original size. Additionally, he urged an expedited probe into the alleged violations.

Allegations of Hypocrisy and Misuse of Funds

BJP leaders have criticized Kejriwal for allegedly spending crores from the state treasury on personal luxuries while citizens struggled for essential services. They accused him of contradicting his self-proclaimed image as a leader of simplicity and honesty.

"Is this the same Arvind Kejriwal who once spoke about honesty and simple living?" Gupta questioned, framing the issue as not just an administrative failure but also a moral lapse. He demanded strict action against those responsible for the alleged misuse of government resources.

BJP's Return to Power

The BJP secured a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats, marking its return to power in the national capital after 27 years. As the new government takes shape, the fate of the controversial bungalow remains a key issue.
