Officials from Noida Authority's residential plot department were ordered to work standing for 30 minutes as a form of "punishment" after failing to attend to an elderly couple. The directive was issued by Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M on December 16, following the staff's apparent negligence.

According to reports, the elderly couple had been waiting for nearly 50 minutes without receiving any assistance. Lokesh M, upon noticing this through CCTV footage, initially observed that the couple remained standing while the officials carried on with their work. Upon checking again 15–20 minutes later and finding the couple still unattended, the CEO decided to reprimand the staff.

As a consequence, officials from the residential plot department were instructed to work while standing for 30 minutes. A video capturing this incident inside the Noida Authority office went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion.

Explaining his decision, the CEO reportedly stated, “Only when you work while standing will you understand the difficulties faced by the elderly.”

The move served as a stern reminder to ensure prompt and respectful service, especially to senior citizens visiting government offices.
