O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), recognized as an Institution of Eminence, is set to launch "The Constitution Academy and The Rights & Freedoms Museum" to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. This groundbreaking initiative aims to honor the Indian Constitution's enduring legacy, serving as a pivotal resource for understanding its significance in shaping the nation's democratic governance. The museum, located on JGU's campus, will be inaugurated on November 26, 2024, on Constitution Day.

The Indian Constitution, adopted on November 26, 1949, remains a foundational document that defines India's governance structure, ensuring the rights and responsibilities of its citizens. Reflecting the country's historical struggles, philosophical ideals, and commitment to democracy, justice, and equality, the Constitution stands as a guiding light for the nation's future.

The Founding Chancellor of JGU, Naveen Jindal, emphasized the importance of the Constitution as a unifying symbol for India. He highlighted the academy and museum as a tribute to the country's journey toward unity under the Constitution, inspired by India's freedom struggle and diversity. The Constitution represents the collective aspirations of a free and democratic India and solidifies the nation's identity, much like the national flag. Jindal expressed hope that the academy would remind students and the nation of the strength in unity and inspire progress for the country.

JGU's Founding Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. C. Raj Kumar, announced the establishment of the museum on August 15, 2024. He described the museum as a living testament to the Constitution's continued relevance, showcasing both the making of the document and the contributions of ordinary citizens, lawmakers, and the judiciary in shaping modern India. The museum will offer a comprehensive look at the Constitution's evolution and the key figures who helped craft it.

Curated by Ms. Anjchita B. Nair, CEO of Cultre and Head of the Centre for Museums, the academy will take a fresh approach to storytelling, making the Constitution accessible and engaging for all visitors. The museum will use various formats, including sound and light displays, interactive installations, and art inspired by the Constitution, to explore the document's impact and significance.

The museum will also feature sections dedicated to each part of the Constitution, profiles of Constituent Assembly members, and debates that shaped the document. A Children's Corner with interactive exhibits will introduce younger visitors to the Constitution in a fun and educational way.

On the 75th Constitution Day, the museum will celebrate the legacy of those who crafted the Constitution and ensure it continues to inspire future generations.
