12-08-2024Faiz Hameed, the former head of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), has been taken into custody by the army amid allegations related to a housing scheme scandal involving Top City.
The Pakistan Army announced that, following a Supreme Court order, a detailed inquiry revealed violations of the Pakistan Army Act by Hameed, prompting his detention and initiation of a Field General Court Martial.
Top City, a private housing project, had accused Hameed of orchestrating a raid on the offices and residence of its owner, Moeez Khan. In response to these serious allegations, the Supreme Court directed an investigation to prevent damage to national institutions.
The inquiry, initiated in April, has led to Hameed's detention. Additionally, Najaf Hameed, his brother, was previously imprisoned for 14 days in connection with the case.
