Kapil Parmar, a visually impaired judo athlete, made history by becoming India's first Paralympic medallist in judo, earning a bronze in the men’s 60kg (J1) category. The 24-year-old delivered a commanding 10-0 victory over Brazil’s Elielton de Oliveira in the bronze medal match, marking a stunning debut at the Paralympics.

This achievement brought India's total medal count at the Games to 25, fulfilling the Paralympic Committee of India's target. India's para-athletes have secured five golds, nine silvers, and 11 bronze medals, with more events yet to come.

Meanwhile, individual gold medallist Harvinder Singh, along with his teammate Pooja Jatyan, narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in the mixed team recurve open event. They were defeated by Slovenia’s Ziva Lavrinc and Dejan Fabcic in a close shoot-off, losing 4-5 in the bronze medal play-off. After leading 4-2, the Indian pair couldn’t hold off a late comeback from the Slovenian duo, falling short of the podium.

Simran Sharma also came close to a medal in the women’s 100m T12 final, finishing fourth with a time of 12.31 seconds. Running with her guide Abhay Singh, the 24-year-old was edged out by Germany's Katrin Mueller and her guide Noel-Phillippe Fiener, who secured bronze with a time of 12.26 seconds. Cuba's Omara Durand Elias won gold in 11.81 seconds, followed by Ukraine's Oksana Boturchuk with silver in 12.17 seconds.

Indian shooters Mona Agarwal and Sidhartha Babu faced challenges in the mixed 50m rifle prone (SH1) event, both failing to reach the final. Mona, who had earlier won bronze in the 10m air rifle (SH1) event, finished 30th with a total score of 610.5, while Sidhartha ended 22nd with a score of 615.8.

In another event, Aravind finished sixth in the men’s shot put F35 category with a season-best throw of 13.01 meters. India currently stands 16th in the overall medal tally, with five gold, nine silver, and 11 bronze medals.
