Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-profile roundtable with leading American technology CEOs today at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel. The discussion, which focused on innovation and collaboration, took place during Modi's three-day visit to the United States, with this session forming part of his New York itinerary.
Organized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering, the meeting featured prominent figures from sectors like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, and semiconductors. Among the attendees were Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, and Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen.
Following the event, PM Modi shared on X (formerly Twitter): “Had a productive roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing key aspects of technology, innovation, and India's progress in these areas. The optimism toward India’s potential is inspiring."
According to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the roundtable delved into discussions on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and semiconductors. The conversation focused on how these technologies are shaping the global landscape and their potential to drive economic growth and human welfare worldwide, including in India.
PM Modi highlighted India’s approach to AI, emphasizing the nation's policy of promoting 'AI for All,' with a focus on its ethical and responsible use. He also reassured the tech leaders of India’s strong commitment to safeguarding intellectual property and fostering a supportive environment for technological innovation. Modi encouraged the CEOs to take advantage of India's fast-growing economy and highlighted the country's potential to become the third-largest economy globally.
The meeting further explored opportunities for investment in India’s expanding startup ecosystem, which is seen as a key gateway for American companies to tap into the Indian market and collaborate on cutting-edge innovations.
MIT Professor Anantha Chandrakasan, who chaired the session, thanked the Prime Minister and the CEOs for their contributions. He affirmed MIT’s dedication to using technology for the greater good and advancing partnerships between the U.S. and India in critical tech fields.
