Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his two-day visit to Kuwait, was conferred the prestigious 'Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer,' the Gulf nation’s highest civilian honour. This accolade, presented by the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, is the 20th international award received by PM Modi in recognition of his leadership and diplomacy.

The 'Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer' is a distinguished order of knighthood in Kuwait, traditionally awarded to heads of state, foreign sovereigns, and royal family members as a gesture of friendship. Past recipients include notable global figures like former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, and King Charles III (then Prince Charles).

The Prime Minister was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Bayan Palace, where he received a Guard of Honour. During the reception, PM Modi engaged in extensive discussions with Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince, and the Prime Minister of Kuwait, furthering the bilateral ties between the two nations.

The Ministry of External Affairs shared details of the event on X, stating, “A special welcome to a historic visit! PM @narendramodi arrives at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait to a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour. Warmly received by HH Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, PM of Kuwait. Extensive talks with HH the Amir, Crown Prince and PM of Kuwait lie ahead.”

This visit marks a significant milestone as it is the first official trip by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in over four decades.

On Saturday, the Prime Minister visited the Gulf Spic employees' camp, where he interacted with Indian workers and acknowledged their critical contributions to Kuwait’s development. Additionally, he addressed the Indian community at the ‘Hala Modi’ event held at the Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. The gathering showcased the enthusiasm and support of the Indian diaspora in Kuwait.

PM Modi’s historic visit highlights India’s deepening ties with Kuwait, celebrating a partnership rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and cooperation.
