Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed gratitude to young Indians for the strong response to a video message he posted late Thursday night, saying the suggestions and feedback he received had brought him closer to them.

In a fresh social media video, Modi thanked viewers for engaging with his message and sharing their views. He said the affection shown by young people would help strengthen the relationship between them and the government.

The Prime Minister's latest video quickly attracted significant attention online. It reportedly crossed 2.5 million views within minutes of being uploaded, while the post also received more than a million Instagram likes shortly after publication.

The interaction followed a video message released by Modi at 11.52 pm on Thursday, in which he announced that the Union Cabinet would consider a proposed law aimed at dealing more firmly with examination paper leaks.

In the nearly three-minute address, the Prime Minister said the government would push for the proposed legislation to be passed as quickly as possible during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Modi described paper leaks as a serious concern that has affected a large number of students and their families. He said the government was committed to strengthening the system so that such incidents could be addressed more effectively and those responsible could face stringent action.

He also said that after the alleged NEET paper leak came to light, one of the government's immediate concerns was ensuring that students did not lose an entire academic year because of the controversy surrounding the examination.

The Prime Minister's outreach to young people also came against the backdrop of his appeal to Cabinet ministers to improve their engagement with younger audiences on social media.

At the Cabinet meeting on Friday, Modi reportedly asked ministers about their activity on platforms such as Instagram and highlighted the importance of reaching out to the large number of young Indians who use the platform regularly.

According to sources, the Prime Minister encouraged ministers to move beyond simply posting information about government programmes. Instead, he suggested that they use Instagram more actively to interact with young citizens and communicate through engaging formats, including reels and other short-form content.

The emphasis on social media engagement comes as the government faces sustained criticism over alleged examination irregularities and the NEET controversy. The Centre has been seeking to reassure students that it is taking steps to strengthen the examination system and prevent future paper leaks.

Through his direct social media outreach, Modi appears to be seeking to communicate the government's position to young audiences while encouraging his ministers to adopt a more interactive approach to digital communication.
