PM Modi to Embark on Two-Day Spiritual Retreat in Kanniyakumari After Election Campaign
Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans a two-day meditation retreat in Kanniyakumari following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha election campaign
28-05-2024Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to embark on a two-day spiritual retreat in Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu, following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha election campaign. Sources revealed on Tuesday that Modi will meditate at the Dhyan Mandapam from the evening of May 30 until the evening of June 1, ahead of the poll results on June 4.
The seventh and final phase of the parliamentary election is set for June 1, with campaigning wrapping up on May 30. During his visit, PM Modi will meditate at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, the historic site where Swami Vivekananda once meditated.
Swami Vivekananda arrived in Kanniyakumari after traveling across India and meditated for three days on a rock situated about 500 meters offshore, where the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea converge. It is believed that Vivekananda achieved enlightenment at this spot.
The rock also holds religious significance as the site where Goddess Kanniyakumari (Parvati) is said to have performed penance in devotion to Lord Shiva. A small projection on the rock is believed to be an imprint of her foot.
PM Modi has a tradition of undertaking spiritual journeys at the end of election campaigns. In 2019, he visited Kedarnath, and in 2014, he went to Shivaji’s Pratapgarh.
The Lok Sabha elections, held in seven phases starting on April 19, will conclude with the results announced on June 4. PM Modi and the BJP are aiming for a victory that surpasses their 2019 performance.
