PM Modi to Visit Wayanad Landslide Zone for Relief and Rehabilitation Review

10-08-2024Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Wayanad, Kerala, on Saturday to assess the damage and ongoing relief operations following a devastating landslide. The Prime Minister will arrive in Kannur around 11 am and conduct an aerial survey of the affected areas. Subsequently, he will inspect the ground and visit a relief camp housing over 10,000 displaced individuals.
Modi will be briefed on the evacuation efforts and the broader relief operations before holding a review meeting to evaluate the situation in detail.
The visit follows a call from several MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, for the Central government to declare the Wayanad landslides a national disaster. Gandhi, in a statement on X, expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister's visit and hoped it would lead to the necessary declaration for additional relief funding.
