Priyanka Chopra Backs Raghav Chadha After Rajya Sabha Role Change, Says He’s ‘Silenced, Not Defeated’
The actor publicly cheered for her brother-in-law after the AAP leader shared a defiant video following his removal as deputy leader
04-04-2026Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha has spoken out after being relieved of his responsibilities as deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, posting a video message on Instagram asserting that he may have been “silenced” but not overcome. The party recently replaced him in the post with fellow parliamentarian Ashok Mittal.
In the video montage, Chadha compiled clips of his speeches in Parliament, underscoring issues he has taken up over time — from bridging the gap between education and employment to advocating wage reforms and uniform access to medical treatment nationwide. He also reiterated his call to confer the Bharat Ratna on freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
The post carried only the Indian tricolour emoji in its caption. Among those reacting was global star Priyanka Chopra, who showed her support in the comments with heart-eyes and applause emojis. Chadha is married to actor Parineeti Chopra, Priyanka’s cousin.
Last year, Priyanka had extended birthday wishes to Chadha on social media, sharing a picture from his engagement ceremony and expressing hope for a year filled with happiness and new beginnings.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Priyanka Chopra is preparing for her return to Hindi cinema with filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s upcoming epic, Varanasi. The ambitious project also stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran and is slated for a theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
Speaking in a recent interview, Priyanka revealed that she requested Rajamouli to include dance sequences for her character, admitting she had missed performing in Indian films. She joked that her request resulted in more dance routines than expected, teasing that even her co-star Mahesh Babu blamed her for the demanding choreography.
