On Monday, Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Lok Sabha prompted a strong response from the ruling government, which accused the Congress MP of making "irresponsible remarks."

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw criticized Gandhi during a press conference, stating, "The position of Leader of Opposition is a very responsible one. Rahul ji has taken up this responsibility for the first time, but today he made irresponsible statements."

Vaishnaw accused Gandhi of spreading false information about the Agnipath scheme, which facilitates entry into the Armed Forces. In his speech, Gandhi had criticized the BJP government, saying, "Agniveer is a use-and-throw labor. One jawan is getting a pension, while another is not. You are creating a divide between jawans."

Vaishnaw responded strongly, asserting, "He (Rahul Gandhi) made some objectionable remarks in Parliament today. He said that martyrs won't receive compensation under the Agniveer Scheme. The Defence Minister has made it clear that Rs 1 crore compensation is given under the Agniveer scheme. Congress has repeatedly raised this issue and tried to create a false narrative."

Gandhi's remarks also included a controversial statement about 'violent Hindus,' which further provoked the BJP. "Today Rahul Gandhi has called the entire Hindu society violent and untruthful. He has insulted Hindu society. Rahul Gandhi has today lowered the dignity of the post of Leader of the Opposition. The whole country is saddened by this statement, and no amount of condemnation is enough," Vaishnaw said.

Vaishnaw added, "Calling Hindus violent, calling Hindus liars, displaying pictures of God during a parliamentary debate, and adding politics to it is not befitting of the leader of the opposition."

In response, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that a request has been made to the Speaker to establish guidelines for addressing unverified statements made by Members of Parliament. "We have made a request to the Speaker to pass a directive that if we have made an unverified statement, then we are ready to take a corrective course," said Rijiju.

He emphasized that if the Leader of the Opposition is found to have lied in the House, they must face the corresponding rules and regulations.
