Several areas of Delhi experienced light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday, with the weather office forecasting more showers and thunderstorms across the National Capital Region (NCR) in the next few hours. Gusty winds are also expected, raising concerns about potential disruption to flight operations, officials said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city, warning of wind speeds that could go up to 60 kmph across various districts.

According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, "Moderate rainfall or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds ranging between 40–60 kmph are likely over most parts of Delhi, including Central, East, New Delhi, North, North-East, North-West, Shahdara, South, South-East, South-West, and West Delhi."

The rainfall is expected to bring much-needed relief to residents reeling from hot and humid conditions, particularly after a sharp rise in minimum temperatures over the last day.

In a broader update, the IMD also confirmed the advancement of the southwest monsoon into parts of the southern Bay of Bengal, the Nicobar Islands, the south Andaman Sea, and some sections of the northern Andaman Sea as of Tuesday.
