Actor Prateik Babbar recently tied the knot with his longtime partner, actress Priya Banerjee, in a low-key wedding ceremony hosted at his late mother Smita Patil’s residence in Mumbai. However, the absence of the Babbar family at the event has sparked curiosity and reactions.

Prateik’s half-brother, actor Aarya Babbar, disclosed in an interview that none of their family members had received an invitation to the wedding. Responding to the situation with humor, Aarya took a playful approach during his recent stand-up comedy act titled Babbar Toh Shaadi Karte Rhte HAIN?.

Joking about the family’s history with marriages, he quipped, “Yes, my father married twice, my sister has been married twice, and now my brother is also on his second marriage. Even our dog Happy has two girlfriends. I wouldn’t mind a second marriage either, but I’m just too lazy to deal with a divorce.”

Aarya also shared a conversation he had with his father, veteran actor Raj Babbar, about the family being left out of the celebrations. Raj Babbar’s casual advice to his son was, “Tell them, mard toh shaadi karte rehte hain (men keep getting married).”

Speaking to a media outlet earlier, Aarya expressed his disappointment and confusion over not being invited. He mentioned that he always believed he shared a close bond with Prateik. He speculated that someone may have influenced his brother’s decision to distance himself from their side of the family.

“I can understand if Prateik didn’t want to invite my mother, Nadira Babbar, as she is his stepmother. But our father should have been invited at least,” Aarya remarked. He added, “Life sometimes feels like a movie. It seems someone is controlling him. I don’t believe this is the Prateik I know.”

Meanwhile, Prateik and Priya shared their wedding joy with fans by posting a series of pictures on social media, accompanied by the caption: “I’ll marry you in every lifetime #priyaKAprateik.”

Prateik is the son of Raj Babbar and the late actress Smita Patil. After Smita’s tragic passing, Raj Babbar married theatre personality Nadira Babbar. Together, they had two children – Aarya Babbar and actress Juhi Babbar.

This is Prateik’s second marriage. He was previously married to Sanya Sagar in 2019, but the couple parted ways in 2023.
