Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has reportedly been targeted in an extortion attempt after an unknown individual sent him a threatening WhatsApp voice message demanding a large sum of money. Following the incident, Singh alerted Mumbai Police, prompting authorities to immediately strengthen security around his residence.
The caller allegedly claimed connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, raising concerns amid recent security incidents involving high-profile film personalities. Law enforcement officials are now working to track the origin of the voice message and identify the person responsible.
In response to the heightened police presence, the management of the residential complex where Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone live contacted authorities, seeking clarity on the increased deployment of armed guards and security personnel. Residents reportedly expressed concern over restricted movement and disruptions within shared spaces.
This threat comes soon after another security scare involving filmmaker Rohit Shetty, whose Mumbai home was recently targeted in a late-night firing incident. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has reportedly claimed responsibility for that attack, and several suspects have been detained in connection with the case.
Police sources revealed that multiple gunshots were fired at Shetty’s residence in the Juhu area, with at least one bullet hitting a glass structure inside the building. Investigators believe the attackers may have ties to organised crime networks, and inquiries into both incidents are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh continues his film commitments and is preparing for the upcoming sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge, scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19.
