Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Group who played a pivotal role in elevating the Indian conglomerate to a global presence through numerous high-profile acquisitions, passed away at the age of 86, as confirmed by the Tata Group in a statement late Wednesday night.
Just two days prior, on Monday, Tata had addressed concerns about his health in a social media post, thanking his followers for their concern. In that message, he stated, “I am aware of recent rumors circulating regarding my health and want to assure everyone that these claims are unfounded. I am currently undergoing medical check-ups due to my age and related medical conditions, but I remain in good spirits.”
Tata also requested the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation, making it his last statement to the public. His passing marks the end of an era for a leader who significantly influenced both the business landscape and philanthropic efforts in India.
