One person was killed and six others were injured when a portion of the roof at Delhi airport's Terminal-1 (T1) collapsed onto cars due to heavy rain early this morning. Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, inspected the site and announced that all flights from T1 scheduled until 2 PM today have been canceled.

Officials reported that the roof sheet and support beams fell, damaging four cars parked in the pick-up and drop area. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) were alerted around 5:30 AM, and rescue operations commenced immediately. A man was seen being pulled from a cab struck by an iron beam.

Minister Kinjarapu stated that flights scheduled to depart after 2 PM will be redirected to Terminals 2 and 3. He assured that passengers would receive full refunds or alternative bookings. Additionally, a comprehensive structural examination of the terminal will be conducted to ensure safety.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation and has promised full support. The Civil Aviation Minister called the incident "very serious" and announced ₹20 lakh compensation for the victim's family and ₹3 lakh each for the injured.

Terminal-1 primarily handles domestic flights by IndiGo and SpiceJet. IndiGo and SpiceJet have both canceled flights until further notice, advising passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport.

Delhi experienced heavy rainfall for the second consecutive day, causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions throughout the city.
