Salman Khan's Security Heightened After Baba Siddique's Murder
Actor Salman Khan's security has been tightened following the murder of Baba Siddique, with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang citing Siddique's ties to Khan as a motive
15-10-2024Following the murder of his close friend and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, actor Salman Khan’s security has been significantly increased. The Mumbai Police has placed the actor under Y-plus security, which includes a police escort vehicle that travels alongside Khan’s car and a constable trained in the use of firearms for his protection.
The heightened security measures were implemented after the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has threatened Salman Khan on multiple occasions in the past, claimed responsibility for Baba Siddique’s murder. The gang cited Siddique's close relationship with the actor as a key motive behind the killing. Salman Khan’s movements are now being closely monitored, with the local police informed of his whereabouts for any upcoming shoots. A dedicated police team will also be present at shooting locations to ensure his safety.
Salman Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel, Maharashtra, is also under enhanced security. Additional personnel have been deployed both inside and outside the property, and the Navi Mumbai Police have set up roadblocks in the area to monitor vehicles passing by. The farmhouse is accessible by only one road, which passes through a nearby village, making it easier for authorities to control access.
This heightened security comes after a previous attempt on Salman Khan’s life in June, when the Mumbai Police foiled a plan by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to assassinate him near the farmhouse. The gang reportedly intended to stop Khan’s car and shoot him with AK-47 rifles. Just two months before that, bike-borne gunmen had fired shots outside Khan’s Bandra residence, Galaxy Apartments.
Salman Khan, who is currently hosting the 18th season of the reality show Bigg Boss, will continue to have increased security during his shoots. The actor’s security detail will be present at the set, especially during the filming of the Weekend Ka Vaar episodes, as confirmed by sources. Despite recent threats, there has been no change in Salman Khan’s shooting schedule for Bigg Boss.
The murder of Baba Siddique took place just one day after Khan had completed shooting the previous weekend’s episode of the show on Friday, October 11.
Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his office in Mumbai on Saturday, October 12. Two shooters, along with an accomplice, were arrested the following day. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the killing in a social media post, citing Siddique’s ties to Salman Khan and alleged connections to underworld figures, including Dawood Ibrahim. The post also referenced Anuj Thapan, who was accused of involvement in the shooting outside Khan's Bandra home and later died by suicide while in police custody.
