Comedian Samay Raina has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding his show India’s Got Latent, stating that his only aim was to entertain. Following widespread criticism over an inappropriate joke made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia in the latest episode, Raina announced that he has removed all episodes of the show from his channel.
Taking to Instagram and X on Wednesday, Raina wrote, “Everything that has been happening has been overwhelming. I have taken down all India’s Got Latent videos. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are conducted fairly.”
The controversy erupted after a remark by Allahbadia about parents was widely condemned by viewers, leading to police complaints against him, Raina, and other participants. Legal action has been initiated in multiple states, including Mumbai and Assam, with authorities investigating the content of the show.
As a consequence of the backlash, Raina’s upcoming stand-up performances in Ahmedabad and Surat, scheduled for March and April, have been cancelled.
The incident has reignited discussions on content regulation on digital platforms, with some calling for stricter oversight of online entertainment. Raina, however, maintains that his intent was never to offend, emphasizing his commitment to cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigations.
