Comedian Samay Raina has put an end to speculation surrounding the future of India's Got Latent by confirming that its second season is on the way. The announcement follows confirmation from Netflix India that the popular show will be part of its upcoming content lineup.
In a promotional video released on Friday, Raina made it clear that viewers can expect the same style and tone that made the show a hit. According to him, Season 2 will be available on both Netflix and YouTube on the very same day, with no difference in runtime or content.
The promo features a lighthearted exchange between Raina and his friend Balraj. During the conversation, Balraj teases him about taking the show to Netflix and jokes that he has abandoned the platform where he originally built his audience. The banter continues when Raina’s bodyguard humorously suggests that the move is financially motivated.
Addressing the discussion, Raina explains that fans on both platforms will receive the same version of the show. The only distinction, he says, is that Netflix viewers will enjoy an ad-free experience and won't have access to a comments section. He further reassured audiences that the show's trademark raw and unrestricted style will remain intact, including its use of strong language.
Hints about the show's return had surfaced earlier when Netflix India posted a mysterious teaser on social media featuring Raina’s bodyguard. The post encouraged followers to leave lemon and spice emojis in the comments, sparking widespread curiosity. Raina was tagged as a collaborator, leading many fans to suspect that a major announcement was imminent.
The comedian had previously hinted at the show's return during his stand-up special Still Alive, though details regarding the new season remained limited at the time. While the return has now been confirmed, the release date and launch schedule have yet to be revealed.
The show's comeback also revives memories of the controversy that surrounded its first season. Public criticism erupted after podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made a remark during an episode that many viewers considered offensive. The incident triggered online backlash, legal complaints, and intervention from the National Commission for Women.
The controversy eventually led to apologies, court proceedings, and intense public debate. During his stand-up performances, Raina later claimed that most of the objectionable content from the recording had already been removed during editing, leaving only a small portion in the final cut.
Reflecting on the fallout, the comedian spoke about the emotional impact the controversy had on him, fellow performers, and their families. Despite the challenges, he has now chosen to move forward with the franchise, promising audiences that the essence of India’s Got Latent will remain unchanged in its next chapter.
