The 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival, one of the world’s longest-running film festivals, will celebrate Khan's career with this special award. Festival artistic director Giona A. Nazzaro praised Khan, highlighting his significant impact on Indian cinema and his ability to connect with audiences while continually challenging himself.
The Locarno Film Festival, founded in 1946, is known for its focus on auteur cinema. This year’s event will showcase 225 films, including 104 world premieres and 15 debut features.
Shah Rukh Khan had a remarkable year in 2023, making a strong return to the screen with hits like Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. He is expected to star in the upcoming film King, as indicated by a viral clip of Khan congratulating filmmaker Santosh Sivan at the Cannes Film Festival, where the King script was visible.
