Shefali Jariwala, widely recognized for her breakout appearance in the 2002 music video Kaanta Laga and later as a contestant on Bigg Boss 13, has passed away at the age of 42. Reports suggest the actor suffered a cardiac arrest late Friday night.
Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to a nearby hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead upon arrival. The body was subsequently transferred to Cooper Hospital around 12:30 am for a postmortem examination.
According to officials at Cooper Hospital, the body was brought in from a different medical facility. While preliminary information points to cardiac arrest, the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the autopsy.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police arrived at Jariwala’s residence in the Andheri area late Friday night to begin an investigation. A forensic team also combed through the house for evidence. Though an official statement is yet to be released, the involvement of police and forensic experts indicates that authorities are treating the matter as suspicious for now.
"A call was received around 1 am regarding a body discovered at a residence in Andheri. The deceased was taken to Cooper Hospital for further examination. The cause of death remains undetermined at this stage," a Mumbai Police spokesperson said.
Shefali rose to prominence in the early 2000s thanks to the phenomenal success of Kaanta Laga, which made her a pop culture icon. She later made an appearance in Salman Khan’s film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and acted in the 2019 web series Baby Come Naa. Over the years, she also participated in several reality shows, including Nach Baliye and Boogie Woogie.
