22-06-2024Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha and her long-time partner Zaheer Iqbal are preparing to wed on June 23. Zaheer's father, prominent businessman and jeweller Iqbal Ratnasi, has confirmed that the couple will marry under the Special Marriage Act, ensuring a secular ceremony devoid of Hindu or Muslim rituals.
Ratnasi emphasized that Sonakshi will not be converting to Islam, dismissing any rumors to the contrary. "She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts, and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi," he shared with the Free Press Journal.
Following their official civil ceremony, Sonakshi and Zaheer will celebrate with a wedding reception at Bastian in Mumbai. Sonakshi's parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, are expected to attend the festivities. Shatrughan Sinha recently mentioned that initial pre-wedding stress has been resolved, and the family is now looking forward to the event.
According to reports, the wedding could take place at Zaheer's residence with the registrar in attendance. The couple has already begun their pre-wedding celebrations, including a mehendi ceremony held on Friday in Mumbai, where friends and family gathered and shared moments on social media.
Sonakshi and Zaheer have been in a relationship for seven years, and their upcoming wedding marks a new chapter in their journey together.
