Sonia Gandhi Joins X, Recalls Meeting Rajiv Gandhi Ahead of Memoir Release
Sonia Gandhi has joined X with a memory of meeting Rajiv Gandhi in Cambridge, introducing her upcoming memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, due out on November 10
24-10-2026Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi has made her debut on X with a personal recollection of how her relationship with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi began, offering readers a glimpse of her forthcoming memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, scheduled for release on November 10.
In her first post on the platform, Sonia recalled meeting Rajiv at a small Greek restaurant in Cambridge, describing the encounter as the beginning of a life shaped by love and shared memories.
“In a small Greek restaurant in Cambridge my journey of love began. Rajiv and I created a world filled with love, laughter and memories. On 10th November, I share that world with you,” she wrote.
The post introduces the central theme of her upcoming book, which traces her journey from a village in Italy to Cambridge, her marriage into the Nehru-Gandhi family and her experiences within one of India's most prominent political households.
Belonging: A Journey of Love is expected to explore Sonia Gandhi’s life across personal and public milestones, including her transition from Italy to India, her marriage to Rajiv Gandhi and the personal losses she experienced over the years.
The memoir also places her experiences against the backdrop of India's changing political and social landscape, offering a personal account of a life closely intertwined with the country's political history.
Her arrival on X comes after she began sharing glimpses of her personal and literary life on Instagram. Recent posts featuring her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and images connected to the forthcoming book have also drawn attention.
Sonia Gandhi’s first post prompted warm responses from supporters, many of whom welcomed her presence on the platform. Her decision to share a memory of Rajiv Gandhi, rather than begin with a political statement, placed the focus on the personal story behind her memoir.
With the November 10 release approaching, the post offers an early indication of the intimate perspective the book aims to present, centred on relationships, family and the experiences that shaped her life.
