In his message, Cheema stated that Badal had submitted his resignation to the party’s working committee, aiming to facilitate the election of a new president. Badal expressed gratitude to the party leaders and workers for their confidence and support during his tenure.

An emergency meeting of the SAD Working Committee, chaired by Balwinder Singh Bhundar, has been scheduled for Monday at 12 pm at the party headquarters in Chandigarh to discuss the next steps.

The elections for the post of president, office bearers, and the working committee of the Akali Dal are set to take place on December 14.
