An 18-year-old boy tragically lost his life in Delhi's Karol Bagh area after an air conditioner fell from the second floor of a building and struck him on the head, authorities reported on Sunday.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, when the victim, Jitesh Chadha, was sitting on a stationary scooter, chatting with his friend, Pranshu. Without warning, the outdoor unit of an air conditioner plummeted from above, hitting both boys.

CCTV footage of the incident shows the two friends conversing near the building's entrance, with Jitesh seated on the scooter and Pranshu standing beside him. The air conditioner unit suddenly fell, hitting Jitesh directly on the head and knocking both boys to the ground.

Emergency services were called, and both teens were rushed to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Jitesh was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Pranshu, 17, remains in critical condition, undergoing treatment for his injuries.

The local police at DBG Road have registered a case, and a forensic team has been sent to investigate the cause of the air conditioner's fall. The investigation is ongoing.
