The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced new dates for the UGC-NET exam after it was canceled a day post-conduct. Initially held on June 18, the exam will now take place between August 21 and September 4, 2024. This computer-based test is crucial for candidates aspiring for lectureships and research fellowships in Indian universities and research institutions.

The rescheduling came after the Ministry of Education canceled the exam, citing potential integrity issues. Over 9 lakh candidates had appeared for the original exam. The CSIR NET exam will also be conducted from July 25-27, 2024, while the All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) is set for July 6, 2024.

Additionally, the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), which was postponed on June 12, will now be held on July 10.

The Ministry of Education addressed the issue of alleged malpractices, stating that the incidents were isolated and should not affect the careers of the many legitimate candidates. Student organizations have been protesting over these irregularities, demanding fair treatment and transparency in the examination process.
