After the Supreme Court put a temporary stop to the Delhi High Court’s order granting bail to former BJP legislator and Unnao rape convict Kuldeep Singh Sengar, his daughter Aishwarya Sengar has spoken out, alleging that her family has faced relentless hardship and social targeting for nearly a decade.
In an exclusive interaction with India Today TV, Aishwarya said her family’s side of the story has consistently been ignored and that crucial evidence was never adequately examined. She claimed that during the recent hearing, her family was not permitted to argue the case on its factual merits.
Questioning the consistency of the survivor’s testimony, Aishwarya alleged that the timeline of the incident was changed multiple times, yet these discrepancies were overlooked. According to her, supporting material such as medical opinions and technical records were also not given due weight.
She further stated that a medical assessment conducted by an AIIMS board had indicated that the survivor was above 18 years of age at the time of the alleged offence. Additionally, she claimed that call detail records contradicted the prosecution’s narrative, suggesting that the survivor was not present at the alleged location and was engaged in a phone call during the stated time.
Addressing the custodial death of the survivor’s father, Aishwarya asserted that her father was not in the town when the incident occurred and has only been implicated under conspiracy-related charges. She also dismissed claims of multiple witness deaths, urging responsible reporting and fact verification.
Describing the personal toll on her family, Aishwarya said they have endured years of social isolation, loss of dignity, and emotional distress. Despite the prolonged struggle, she said the family continues to place its faith in the judicial process.
She also refuted allegations surrounding other linked cases, stating that her family had already been cleared in the road accident case involving the survivor, which resulted in two deaths. According to her, investigations by the CBI with inputs from IIT Delhi and other institutions concluded that the crash was accidental.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court clarified that Kuldeep Sengar would remain in custody, as he is already serving a sentence in another case. The top court observed that the matter involved significant legal questions and ruled that the bail order would remain ineffective until further consideration. It also warned against public pressure and media-driven narratives influencing judicial proceedings.
