Farmers from Uttar Pradesh are set to hold a protest march today from Noida to the Parliament complex in Delhi, where the Winter Session is currently in progress. The march, organized by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) and allied groups like Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), aims to push for five main demands related to compensation and benefits under the new agricultural laws.

The farmers are seeking a 10 percent allocation of plots and a 64.7 percent increase in compensation under the old acquisition law, which would provide compensation four times the market rate. They also demand 20 percent allocation of plots for land acquired after January 1, 2014, and benefits for the children of landless farmers in terms of employment and rehabilitation. Additionally, they are calling for the passing of government orders based on the High Power Committee’s recommendations and proper settlement of populated areas.

The protest, led by BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa, will begin at 12 pm near the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida. Farmers from 20 districts, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Aligarh, and Bulandshahr, are expected to participate, marching on foot and tractors toward Delhi.

Security Measures and Route Diversions in Delhi-NCR

In response to the protest, security measures have been heightened, with the Delhi Police and Gautam Buddh Nagar Police setting up barriers at the Noida-Delhi border to prevent the farmers from entering the capital. Intensive vehicle checks are being conducted, and several routes have been diverted. Commuters are advised to use the metro to avoid traffic congestion on the affected routes.

To manage the situation, entry for all goods vehicles has been restricted on key routes, including the Yamuna Expressway to Delhi and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

Route Diversions

  • Vehicles traveling from Chilla Border to Greater Noida will be diverted via Sector 14A Flyover, Golchakkar Chowk, Sector 15, Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk, and Jhundpura Chowk.
  • For travelers from the DND Border to Delhi, the route via Film City Flyover to Sector 18 will be in effect.
  • Vehicles from Kalindi Border will be directed through Mahamaya Flyover to Sector 37, while those going from Greater Noida to Delhi will follow the Charkha Roundabout to Kalindi Kunj.
  • The Yamuna Expressway-bound vehicles will be diverted via Jewar toll to Khurja and Jahangirpur.
  • Commuters from Sirsa and Pari Chowk will be directed via Dadra and Dasna.

Ambulances and other emergency vehicles will be given priority and exempted from diversions. For traffic-related emergencies, people are advised to contact the helpline at 9971009001. Commuters are urged to plan their journeys carefully, considering the route diversions and potential delays.
