Veer-Zaara Crosses Rs 100 Crore at Global Box Office After 20 Years

21-09-2024Yash Chopra's iconic 2004 film Veer-Zaara continues to captivate audiences two decades after its original release. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, the film recently surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark at the global box office, following its re-release on September 13.
The film's re-release brought in Rs 23 lakh from overseas markets, contributing to a total of Rs 1.80 crore in September alone. Earlier this year, a February re-release had added another Rs 30 lakh to its earnings.
Veer-Zaara originally grossed Rs 61 crore in India and Rs 37 crore from international markets, achieving a total of Rs 98 crore. Over time, it accrued an additional Rs 2.5 crore, bringing its global box office earnings to Rs 102.60 crore.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, Veer-Zaara marked Yash Chopra’s third directorial venture with Shah Rukh Khan, following Darr and Dil To Pagal Hai. The film also starred Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Kirron Kher, Anupam Kher, and Divya Dutta. The romantic drama tells the story of an Indian Air Force officer who falls in love with a Pakistani woman, only to be imprisoned in Pakistan. Years later, a lawyer, played by Rani Mukerji, takes up the fight to reunite the couple after their long separation.
