Vidya Balan recently opened up about her weight transformation, sharing insights into her health journey in an interview with Galatta Plus. Known for facing criticism over her weight throughout her career, Vidya revealed that it wasn’t just about fat. This year, she discovered inflammation was a primary factor affecting her body.

Discussing her experience with Amura Health, a nutrition group in Chennai, she shared, “All my life, I tried so hard to be thin, dieting and working out intensely. Sometimes I would lose weight, but it would come back. Then, earlier this year, I connected with Amura Health, and they told me, ‘It’s not fat; it’s inflammation.’ They created a diet to reduce inflammation, and it worked wonders. I shed weight quickly because they removed foods that didn’t suit me.”

Vidya explained she was surprised to learn that foods she’d assumed were beneficial didn’t actually work for her body. “I’m vegetarian and never thought foods like spinach and bottle gourd wouldn’t agree with me. We assume all vegetables are good for us, but that isn’t true. What suits one person may not be good for another.”

Remarkably, she said this was her first year without exercise. “Amura asked me to stop working out, and this is the slimmest I’ve been. I haven't set foot in a gym all year, yet people keep asking, ‘What are you doing?’ I tell them I’m just focusing on what suits me and feel healthier than ever.” She emphasized the importance of individual health choices, adding, “Judgment around body size can be harsh, but our bodies reflect our emotional state too. We need to honor our unique needs.”

Vidya will soon reprise her popular role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, joining Madhuri Dixit, Kartik Aaryan, and Triptii Dimri in the Anees Bazmee-directed film, set to hit theaters on November 1.
