Vir Das to Host 2024 International Emmy Awards in New York City

Comedian and actor Vir Das, the first Indian to host the International Emmys, will lead the 2024 awards ceremony on November 25 in New York City

Vir Das, a renowned stand-up comedian and actor, has been announced as the host for the 2024 International Emmy Awards, as confirmed by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The prestigious awards ceremony is set to take place on November 25 in New York City.

Das, who gained recognition with his Emmy nomination in 2021 and secured a win in 2023 for his Netflix special Landing, will become the first Indian to host the International Emmys. Bruce L. Paisner, President and CEO of the Academy, expressed excitement about Das returning to the stage, stating, "His unique humor and global perspective make him an ideal host for our diverse audience."

Sharing his excitement, Das took to Instagram to express his gratitude: "An Indian hosting the @iemmys! Tremendously honored and excited!" He also mentioned his eagerness to celebrate the best content from around the world during the event.

Currently on his Mind Fool tour, Das continues to make waves internationally. In addition to his comedy career, Das has been involved in several TV series and films, including Whiskey Cavalier, Hasmokh on Netflix, and Prime Video’s Call Me Bae. His comedy special Vir Das: For India also earned him an Emmy nomination in 2021.

Speaking about the honor of hosting, Das said, "It’s an incredible opportunity to celebrate creators worldwide, and I know firsthand how the International Emmys can be life-changing."
