Vrindavan Temple Urges Visitors to Dress Modestly: Bans Mini Skirts and Torn Jeans
Thakur Bankebihari Temple has urged visitors to avoid wearing inappropriate clothing to uphold the temple's cultural dignity and sanctity
22-12-2024Vrindavan's iconic Thakur Bankebihari Temple has issued an appeal requesting visitors to dress modestly while on temple premises. The request comes in light of the anticipated surge in footfall ahead of the New Year celebrations.
Temple authorities have specified that attire such as mini skirts, torn jeans, half pants, and nightwear is considered inappropriate for the sacred environment, as it detracts from the dignity and sanctity of the space.
The appeal has been communicated through banners displayed across the city and media channels, particularly on roads leading to the temple.
Munish Sharma, the temple manager, emphasized that the initiative aims to uphold the cultural dignity of the temple. “Many devotees, especially those visiting from outside the region, often arrive in casual tourist attire like jeans and t-shirts, which does not align with the temple’s traditions and respect for its cultural heritage,” Sharma said.
The Thakur Bankebihari Temple is a significant spiritual destination, attracting thousands of devotees from across India and abroad every year. The temple hopes this measure will encourage visitors to dress respectfully and honor the traditions of the sacred site.
