Following widespread protests demanding justice for a deceased woman doctor, West Bengal Governor Dr. CV Ananda Bose has directed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to convene an emergency Cabinet meeting. This directive comes in response to calls from the public for action, including the replacement of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal.

Governor Bose emphasized the need for the state government to address these demands and not evade responsibility. He underscored that the state must operate within constitutional bounds and rule of law, and criticized any reluctance to tackle the issue head-on.

The tragic case involves the rape and murder of a trainee doctor, whose body was discovered in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. This incident has sparked ongoing protests across Kolkata and other regions of West Bengal, highlighting widespread public outrage.
