AAP Claims Arvind Kejriwal's Health Rapidly Declining, Lost 8 kg Since Arrest
AAP raises alarms over Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's health, reporting an 8 kg weight loss since his March 21 arrest in the liquor policy case
23-06-2024The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expressed serious concerns on Saturday about the declining health of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal since his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. According to AAP, Kejriwal has lost 8 kg since his arrest, dropping from 70 kg to a worrying 62 kg by June 22.
The party emphasized the urgency of Kejriwal's condition, with doctors deeming the continuous weight loss very serious. They have called for immediate and thorough medical evaluations to identify and address the root cause of his health decline. The AIIMS medical board has even recommended adding 'parathas' and 'puri' to Kejriwal's diet to help counteract the weight loss.
"We had requested an extension of Arvind Kejriwal's interim bail for a week due to his health concerns," said an AAP spokesperson. "Doctors from Max Hospital advised comprehensive tests given his decreasing weight."
Despite these recommendations, AAP alleges that only some blood tests have been conducted, with critical heart and cancer screening tests still pending. Kejriwal, who was arrested in a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Excise Policy, was initially granted 21 days of interim bail by the Supreme Court to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. However, his request for further extension was denied.
On Thursday, a trial court granted Kejriwal bail, but the Delhi High Court later ordered an interim stay on this decision.
