The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for government accommodation for its national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, following his recent resignation as Chief Minister of Delhi.
On Friday, AAP leader Raghav Chadha emphasized that Kejriwal is entitled to government housing based on Election Commission rules. "According to the Election Commission's guidelines, a national party is provided with two key resources: a national office and government residence for the party’s national convenor. We, therefore, request the central government to allot a government residence to Arvind Kejriwal," Chadha stated.
Prior to assuming office as Delhi’s Chief Minister in December 2013, Kejriwal resided in the Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad. During his tenure, he initially lived in a house on Tilak Lane, central Delhi. After AAP’s sweeping victory in the 2015 Assembly elections, he moved to a larger residence at 6, Flagstaff Road in the Civil Lines area of north Delhi.
With his resignation, Kejriwal is expected to vacate his official residence and relinquish all government-provided facilities in the coming weeks. His resignation, announced on September 17, came just days after the Supreme Court granted him bail in connection with the alleged liquor policy case.
