Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of shielding his aide Bibhav Kumar, alleging that Kumar assaulted her while Kejriwal was present at his residence. Maliwal claimed that despite the incident, she did not receive any communication from Kejriwal, accusing him of protecting the accused.
Detailing the events of May 13, Maliwal recounted being assaulted by Kumar at Kejriwal's residence. She described the assault, stating that Kumar physically attacked her multiple times, causing her distress and injury. Despite her calls for help, she claimed that no one came to her aid during the assault.
Addressing concerns about possible instructions given to Kumar, Maliwal emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the matter. She expressed her cooperation with the Delhi Police's probe and urged for her polygraph test to clarify the situation.
Additionally, Maliwal alleged that senior AAP leaders were pressurized to take action against her, claiming that some members were coerced into making derogatory statements or leaking personal information. This accusation further fueled the political confrontation surrounding the assault case.
As the matter continues to be under investigation by the Delhi Police, it has intensified the political rivalry between the AAP and the BJP, with both parties exchanging accusations and counter-accusations regarding the incident.
