A significant fire erupted in an apartment at Noida's Lotus Boulevard Society in Sector 100 on Thursday due to an air-conditioner explosion. The blaze quickly spread to other units in the high-rise, leading to chaos among residents.
The fire department was alerted by locals and residents, prompting the immediate dispatch of five fire tenders to the scene. Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey reported that the firefighting systems in the building, including sprinklers and extinguishers, were instrumental in controlling the fire within 10 minutes, limiting the damage to a single room in the affected flat. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.
Videos circulating on social media showed dense smoke emanating from the apartment, adding to the urgency of the situation. This incident follows a similar event last month in Prayagraj, where an AC compressor explosion in a restaurant kitchen caused widespread panic.
In a related note, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) reported receiving over 200 emergency calls on Wednesday, the highest number this year. From January 1 to May 26, the DFS logged 8,912 fire-related calls, with fires claiming 55 lives and injuring over 300 people in the national capital during this period.
