A tragic incident occurred during a Ramlila performance in Delhi’s Shahdara on Saturday when a 45-year-old man portraying Lord Ram collapsed on stage and later died. The man, identified as Sushil Kaushik, was a property dealer who had been participating in the Jai Shri Ramleela Vishwakarma Nagar event.

A video captured the moment Kaushik, while delivering his lines, suddenly clutched his chest and showed signs of distress before stepping backstage, where he collapsed. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Anand Vihar, where doctors confirmed he had suffered a heart attack and was declared dead on arrival.

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred during Ramlila performances. In January, a 62-year-old man playing the role of Lord Hanuman in Haryana's Bhiwani passed away after suffering a heart attack mid-performance. Similarly, in October 2022, an actor portraying Ravan in Ayodhya also collapsed and died on stage.

Police have confirmed Kaushik’s death and are investigating the case.
