Air India, owned by the Tata Group, revealed on May 23 its decision to increase pilot salaries by up to Rs 15,000 and introduce an annual performance bonus of up to Rs 1.8 lakh, effective from April 1.

According to an official statement, the airline has raised fixed monthly pay by Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 for pilots holding positions from first officer to senior commander. However, there will be no salary hike for Junior First Officers in this round of appraisals.

Additionally, bonuses ranging from Rs 42,000 to Rs 1.8 lakh per year have been announced for Junior First Officers (JFOs) to senior commanders.

First Officers and Captains will receive an annual bonus of Rs 60,000, while Commanders and Senior Commanders will receive bonuses of Rs 1.32 lakh and Rs 1.80 lakh, respectively.

Furthermore, the airline unveiled compensation for pilots who experienced significant delays in their ground and simulator training.

"Pilots who underwent command upgrade and conversion training from April 2023 to March 2024 and faced delays due to justifiable organizational reasons will receive additional compensation for the extra time spent in training beyond the guaranteed 40 hours of flying," Air India stated, noting that specifics will be communicated individually, with the payout scheduled alongside flying allowances for June.
