Air India Crew Left Without Booked Hotel Rooms, Promises Action
Air India apologizes after cabin crew members were left without pre-booked hotel rooms in Hyderabad, prompting a search for accommodations late Wednesday night
12-07-2024Following a mishap on Wednesday night, Air India faced criticism when some cabin crew members arrived in Hyderabad only to find no hotel rooms booked for their layover. The crew, fatigued after their journey, spent hours searching for accommodations before finally settling at Air India's CTE flying training facility early Thursday, where the rooms were reported to be in poor condition.
An aviation journalist shared images of the substandard room on social media, calling out the airline for its handling of the situation.
An Air India spokesperson acknowledged the error, stating, "At Air India, the well-being of our staff is a priority, and we typically arrange comfortable stays at reputable hotels for their layovers. This incident represents a lapse, and appropriate measures will be taken."
Typically, airlines pre-book hotel rooms for cockpit and cabin crew in advance at overnight layover destinations.
