A crew member of Air India was assaulted inside her hotel room in London, as confirmed by the airline on Sunday. The incident, described as an unlawful intrusion at a hotel run by a major international chain, is currently under police investigation.
The assault reportedly occurred at the Radisson Red Hotel near Heathrow Airport. According to sources, the cabin crew member awoke to find an intruder in her room who physically assaulted her, including hitting her with a clothes hanger and dragging her on the floor. Her cries for help alerted her colleagues, who intervened. The assailant was subsequently arrested, and the victim was taken to the hospital.
Air India expressed deep concern over the incident, stating that they are providing full support to the crew member, including professional counseling. The airline is cooperating with local authorities and the hotel management to ensure such incidents do not occur again. Although some reports suggest the crew member may have been sexually assaulted, the airline has not officially confirmed this.
Responding to the incident, Congress leader Manish Tewari criticized Air India, alleging that the airline had ignored previous safety concerns raised by the crew about the hotel. Tewari called the situation "very disturbing" and accused the airline of putting its employees at risk.
