Air India SATS Services (AISATS), a ground-handling company jointly operated by Air India and Singapore’s SATS Ltd, has issued a public apology following the circulation of a video showing employees celebrating at the office shortly after the deadly crash of flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad.

The clip, which quickly gained traction on social media, shows staff members dancing and engaging in a festive gathering within AISATS premises. While the company did not disclose the exact timing of the event, it is believed to have taken place in the days following the June 12 air disaster.

In a statement released Friday, AISATS expressed its deep regret over the incident, calling it a serious lapse in judgment.

“At AISATS, we extend our heartfelt solidarity to the families impacted by the devastating loss of AI 171,” the statement read. “The behaviour displayed in the recent internal video does not reflect our core values. We have taken strict disciplinary action against those involved and remain committed to upholding empathy, professionalism, and accountability in everything we do.”

The company confirmed that four senior executives who played a key role in organising the office event have been dismissed.

The tragic crash of Air India flight AI 171 resulted in 270 fatalities, including 241 passengers. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 crashed into a medical hostel complex shortly after departing from Ahmedabad, leaving only one survivor.
