Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu informed Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that the flight data recorder from the aircraft involved in Wednesday’s crash has been successfully secured. The information was shared through an official response letter sent on Thursday.

The minister stated that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), operating under the Civil Aviation Ministry, has initiated a full-scale inquiry into the incident, which claimed the lives of four individuals onboard the jet.

He emphasized that the investigation is being carried out in accordance with established aviation accident regulations and will follow a structured, transparent, and time-bound process. Authorities are reviewing multiple forms of evidence, including technical documentation, flight operations data, and findings from the crash site, to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify possible causes.

The ministry also acknowledged the Maharashtra government’s request to strengthen preventive measures and assured that future safety actions will be determined once the investigation’s findings are finalized.

In addition, the Union Minister noted that collaboration from state authorities and local agencies will be crucial for ensuring smooth progress in the investigation, including facilitating site access and logistical coordination. He reassured that significant developments will be communicated to the state government when appropriate.

Based on preliminary insights and final conclusions, aviation regulators such as the AAIB and DGCA are expected to introduce safety recommendations and regulatory updates aimed at preventing similar incidents.

The recovered black box — consisting of the Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder — is expected to play a key role in uncovering the circumstances leading to the crash. The Learjet 45 went down near the Baramati tabletop runway at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
