The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) unveiled its election manifesto on Saturday, outlining its key priorities and commitments for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Punjab. SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal emphasized the party's determination to secure the transfer of Kartarpur Sahib from Pakistan to India through mutual land exchange between the two nations.

Additionally, Badal reiterated the party's stance on the inclusion of Chandigarh and other Punjabi-speaking areas into Punjab, expressing discontent with the Centre's handling of the issue. He underscored the significance of Chandigarh, which serves as the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana.

Regarding the Kartarpur corridor, which connects Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district, SAD aims to simplify the pilgrimage process by advocating for a permit system instead of requiring passports for pilgrims.

The manifesto also addressed concerns related to river water management, advocating for the cancellation of decisions made without Punjab's consent and seeking royalties for river water provided to non-Riparian states. Moreover, SAD pledged to open borders such as Attari and Hussainiwala with Pakistan to promote trade and tourism, with an aim to boost economic prosperity.

Furthermore, the manifesto highlighted the party's commitment to promoting industrial development in border districts, advocating for the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and industry-focused skill education institutes. It also expressed solidarity with minority communities and opposed any imposition of the Uniform Civil Code.

Additionally, SAD vowed to safeguard Sikh religious affairs from external interference and proposed the creation of Special Economic Hubs in strategic locations to foster economic growth and development.

Overall, the SAD manifesto outlines a comprehensive vision for Punjab's development and addresses various socio-economic and political issues affecting the state.
